Renegades introduced 46 brand-new weapons into Destiny 2, but most of them won’t change how you play. Only a handful stand out as truly powerful, efficient, and worth chasing — especially if you prefer solo content. Below are the seven Renegades weapons that actually matter, why they’re so strong, and how solo players can obtain them.
Uncivil Discourse – The Best Special DPS Weapon in the Game
Uncivil Discourse is one of the biggest surprises of Renegades. What used to be an exotic-style weapon has returned as a legendary Arc hand cannon, and it’s stronger than ever. With access to random rolls and synergy with Lucky Pants, this weapon delivers absurd DPS for a special slot weapon.
Perks like Jolting Feedback, Frenzy, Desperate Measures, and Precision Instrument push its damage well beyond expectations, while Air Trigger allows near-primary uptime thanks to bonus ammo generation. In invasion scenarios and long-range fights, it deletes enemies in just a few shots. It even one-shots dangerous enemies in the new dungeon, making it invaluable for solo clears.
Best of all, it drops from all Renegades activities, so simply playing the new content will eventually reward you with one.
Motif – Solar Area Denial Done Right
Motif is the first Solar area-denial grenade launcher, completing the elemental cycle alongside weapons like Lost Signal and Witherhoard. What sets Motif apart is its perk pool. With Incandescent, every kill spreads Scorch, often triggering chain ignitions that wipe entire groups in seconds.
It gets even better with Heal Clip, which constantly restores health on reload — perfect for aggressive solo play. Alternatively, Auto-Loading Holster enables seamless weapon swapping for Envious Arsenal rotations. Motif shines in add-clear, spawn control, and survivability, making it one of the strongest utility weapons in Renegades.
Motif drops from the Portal activity, so farm it whenever it’s featured for the best rolls.
Sullenclaw – The Best Eager Edge Sword Ever Made
Eager Edge swords have always been about movement, but Sullenclaw takes it to another level. This dungeon sword can roll Eager Edge alongside Assassin’s Blade, dramatically boosting mobility, or pair Eager Edge with real damage perks like Bait and Switch, Sword Logic, or Whirlwind Blade.
What truly makes Sullenclaw special is that Vorpal Weapon appears in the left column, allowing double damage perks. With Tier 5 drops, you can even swap perks on the fly — switching between movement and boss damage without changing weapons or losing ammo. That alone makes it the most versatile sword in the game.
Sullenclaw drops from the Equilibrium Dungeon and can be focused after completing the dungeon quest, making solo farming very viable.
Practic Blade – The Lightsaber That Broke the Meta
The Practic Blade is a special-ammo sword in the kinetic slot, and it completely reshaped weapon balance. With deep customization, artifact support, and elemental debuffs like Scorch and Weaken, this weapon outperforms even heavy swords — while using special ammo.
As you progress through Renegades content, the Practic Blade gains stat upgrades, pseudo-Eager Edge movement, and multiple elemental effects. It’s efficient, devastating, and insanely fun. Triple Practic Blade setups have already proven capable of near one-phasing dungeon bosses.
This is easily one of the strongest and most flexible weapons Destiny 2 has ever introduced.
Arc Rocket Pulse Rifle – Future Meta Monster
This new Arc rocket pulse rifle is essentially Mint Retrograde in Arc form, with added synergy perks like Jolting Feedback and Rolling Storm. While it lacks Rewind Rounds, it can auto-reload through Trickle Charge or its hidden Accelerated Assault origin trait, allowing massive sustained fire.
The weapon is currently bugged, but once fixed, it will be one of the best sustained DPS primaries in the game — especially when paired with the Practic Blade or double rocket pulse setups.
You can earn premasterworked versions from Vanguard Alerts or Portal drops.
Peculiar Charm – Infinite Ammo Titan Monster
Peculiar Charm isn’t for everyone — but Titans should pay attention. This SMG uniquely rolls Shoot to Loot and Kinetic Tremors together. Thanks to how shockwaves inherit Shoot to Loot, ammo bricks are collected automatically across a huge radius.
When combined with Kinetic Synthesis and Peacekeepers, this setup creates true infinite ammo while maintaining constant damage buffs. It’s excellent for sustained damage, super generation, and solo boss encounters.
The downside? It only drops from Competitive PvP after placement matches, which limits accessibility.
Gizmo – A Mini Rocket Launcher in Disguise
Gizmo is the only Strand micromissile grenade launcher, and it’s far stronger than Mountaintop ever was. With Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch, it functions like a mini rocket launcher, enabling massive burst damage without reloading.
Additional perks like Chain Reaction, Hatchling, Elemental Honing, Bipod, and Air Trigger make it incredibly flexible for double-special builds. No matter the roll, Envious + Bait and Switch turns Gizmo into a top-tier damage dealer.
Currently, it drops through seasonal events, so grabbing one early is highly recommended.
