The Elder Scrolls Online continues to evolve with every major update, and Update 49 brings a wide range of improvements to the base game. While many players have already noticed the headline changes, several useful features were either buried deep in the patch notes or not highlighted at all.
Here are seven hidden improvements in ESO Update 49 that you may have missed.
1. New Stylemaster Offering Dragon Knight Skill Styles
One of the biggest hidden additions in Update 49 is a new Stylemaster named Srazir. He can now be found in all Alliance capitals, making it easy for players to access his services.
Srazir sells many blue Dragon Knight skill styles, each costing 20,000 gold. These include styles for abilities such as:
Chains of Flame
Core of Flame
Dark Talons
Hearthfire
Inferno
Obsidian Shield
Petrify
Searing Strike
Superheated Ward
Wing Buffet
Dragon Blood
Not every Dragon Knight style is available yet. Additional styles, including Dragonfire, will arrive when the Gold Coast Bazaar launches on March 25.
2. Vertical Camera Offset Slider on Console
Console players have finally received a feature that PC players have enjoyed for years. Update 49 introduces a Vertical Offset camera slider for PlayStation and Xbox.
Players can now adjust the vertical position of the camera to suit their preferred view. Whether you want the camera closer to your character or positioned higher for a wider perspective, this option is now available.
You can adjust it through: Options → Camera → Vertical Offset
This long-requested feature adds more flexibility to the console gameplay experience.
3. New Furnishing Plans
Housing enthusiasts will also notice several new furnishing options introduced with Update 49.
Players can visit Rolis Hlaalu, the Mastercraft Mediator, in major cities to find new furnishing diagrams available for purchase.
Additionally, Solstice Reward Coffers can now drop furnishing plans with Worm Cult and Argonian themes. Even more housing items are expected to arrive when the Night Market launches later in April.
4. Resurrect Allies While Moving
A major quality-of-life improvement allows players to resurrect allies while moving.
Previously, reviving a teammate required standing completely still, which could be dangerous during combat. With Update 49, players can slowly reposition themselves while performing a resurrection.
Although movement speed is limited, this change allows players to avoid dangerous ground effects while reviving allies, making group encounters smoother and less frustrating.
5. Faster Mount Speed on Cyrodiil Roads
Traveling through Cyrodiil in PvP can involve long rides between keeps. Update 49 introduces a noticeable speed boost for mounts traveling on roads.
When riding along main roads—and even some dirt paths—players will experience increased mount speed. This improvement helps reduce travel time across the map and makes moving between objectives much more convenient.
For PvP players who spend a lot of time in Cyrodiil, this is a welcome upgrade.
6. Morphing Collectible Pieces Now Drop from Event Boxes
Previously, morphing collectible fragments were often obtained only from event vendors. With Update 49, these fragments will now drop directly from event reward boxes during the events where they are introduced.
For example:
The first fragment will appear during its debut event.
Later fragments will appear in subsequent events.
After the event ends, fragments can still be purchased from event vendors.
This change makes event collectibles less grindy and easier to obtain.
7. New Audio Feedback for Upgrades and Respecs
Update 49 also introduces several new sound effects to enhance the game’s immersion.
For instance: Upgrading your mount at the Stable Master now triggers a new sound effect. Successfully respeccing your skills in the UI also produces new audio feedback.
While small, these changes add extra polish and make interactions in the game feel more responsive.
Update 49 may not introduce a massive expansion, but it delivers a variety of useful quality-of-life improvements that enhance everyday gameplay in ESO.
