In Fallout 76, Snallygasters are terrifying mutated creatures roaming Appalachia, but they are also extremely valuable for players who want to collect rare crafting materials. Defeating these monsters can reward you with useful resources such as Snallygaster Hide, Asbestos, Waste Acid, and other materials that are not easy to obtain elsewhere. Because of this, many players specifically hunt Snallygasters to stockpile resources for building and upgrading their camps.
Snallygasters also appear in several different forms throughout the wasteland. While exploring, you may encounter variants like Fetid Snallygasters, Bloody Snallygasters, Glowing Snallygasters, and others. Knowing where these creatures commonly spawn can save you a lot of time if you're farming crafting materials.
Below are several reliable locations where players can regularly find Snallygasters in Fallout 76.
Flooded Trainyard

One of the most popular farming spots is the Flooded Trainyard, located in the southeastern region of the map near the train tracks by Watoga Station.
When you arrive, head toward the end of the tracks where multiple Snallygasters typically spawn. This area often features several variants, including Glowing Snallygasters and Bloody Snallygasters. Under normal circumstances, you can encounter around six to seven Snallygasters here, making it one of the best places for farming.
Kiddie Corner Cabins

Another location worth checking out is Kiddie Corner Cabins, which can be found in the northern part of Appalachia. It sits just above Clarksburg and the Toxic Dried Lakebed.
This area isn’t home to Snallygasters alone. Players may also run into other hostile enemies such as Mirelurks and Feral Ghouls. Snallygasters can usually be spotted along the road leading up to the cabins, particularly near the Black Bear Lodge area.
Toxic Larry's Meat 'n Go

If you’re searching for another reliable spawn location, travel to Toxic Larry's Meat 'n Go in the central eastern section of the map. This small location is situated near Berkeley Springs and not far from The Burrows.
Outside the building, you can frequently encounter multiple Snallygasters. Variants such as Glowing Snallygasters and Nascent Snallygasters often appear here, making it another solid spot for farming resources.
Charleston Capitol Building Area

The area around the Charleston Capitol Building in the southwest region of the map can also spawn Snallygasters. From the capitol building, move northwest toward Hornwright Industrial Headquarters.
Along the rubble and ruined streets between these two locations, several Snallygasters may appear. While this spot doesn’t always have as many enemies as the Flooded Trainyard, it is still a good location to check while exploring the region.
While Snallygasters may seem formidable, you can employ effective strategies to overcome them. It is crucial to understand their combat abilities and weaknesses:
| Snallygaster Abilities | Weaknesses and Tactics |
| Ranged Attack: Toxic slime ball (inflicts poison damage) Melee Attacks: Claw scratches and tongue whips | Radiation Resistance: Snallygasters are immune to radiation damage. Headshot Multiplier: Headshots deal 150% increased damage. Recommended Tactics: Engage from a distance, utilize stealth for headshots, and switch to close-range weapons like shotguns when they approach. |
Snallygasters are valuable targets because they drop a wide range of crafting materials and useful items. Players can obtain the following resources from them:
Snallygaster Hide
Raw Asbestos (also dropped by Anglers)
Waste Acid
Glowing Blood
Glowing Meat
Nuclear Waste
Prime Meat
Many of these materials are essential for crafting armor, weapons, and chems. Chems can temporarily boost your character’s abilities, such as improving combat performance or increasing carrying capacity. However, players should remember that some chems may cause addiction, which requires medication to remove.
