In GTA 5, few locations are as well-known — or as dangerous — as the heavily guarded military installation hidden in Blaine County. With the arrival of the GTA 5 Enhanced Edition, many players are returning to explore classic high-risk areas again, and the military base remains one of the most popular spots to test your skills (and your luck).

The military base is called Fort Zancudo, located in the western part of Blaine County in San Andreas. You’ll find it:
Near the coastal highway north of North Chumash
Just south of the sandy beaches along the west coast
West of Mount Josiah
Close to the small town of Harmony
On the in-game map, it is often labeled around the Lago Zancudo area, making it relatively easy to spot once you know the region.
Despite its heavy security, Fort Zancudo attracts players for one major reason: access to military vehicles. Inside the base, you can potentially find:
Fighter jets
Military tanks
Armed ground vehicles
However, entering the base is not without consequences — you’ll instantly trigger a high wanted level and face aggressive military response.
Fort Zancudo is surrounded by fences, checkpoints, and constant patrols. There is no “safe” entry, but players have developed several methods to get inside.
1. Air Entry (Planes or Helicopters)
Flying into the restricted airspace immediately alerts the military. You’ll receive escalating wanted levels, and missile systems may target you quickly. Some players attempt a fast parachute drop, aiming to land inside the base before being destroyed, then quickly grab a vehicle and escape.
2. Vehicle Jump-In Method
Another common approach is using a fast car from nearby hills or cliffs. If timed correctly, you may be able to:
Jump over the outer fence
Land near the internal road loop
Drive along the perimeter road undetected (temporarily)
Once you exit that internal road system, a full military response is triggered, so speed is essential.
3. Motorcycle Sneak Entry
In some cases, a motorcycle can slip through a checkpoint if timing is perfect and guards are distracted. If successful, you can access internal paths before being detected, giving you a short window to explore or steal vehicles.
Regardless of how you get in, Fort Zancudo is designed to respond aggressively:
A 4-star wanted level is typically triggered
Ground troops and armored vehicles will engage immediately
Air support and missiles may be deployed in some situations
Survival time inside the base is usually short unless you plan a quick escape.
Fort Zancudo remains one of the most iconic and dangerous locations in GTA 5. Whether you're chasing a fighter jet or just testing your skills against the military response system, it offers a high-risk, high-reward experience that keeps players coming back. Just remember — getting in is easy. Getting out is the real challenge.
