For players aiming to push into high-tier Torment content, two priorities dominate the current meta: unlocking the full 6-slot Seal and optimizing the strongest Paladin builds following the May balance updates.

From my own early Season 13 progression, it quickly became clear that power scaling is heavily tied to Seal optimization rather than raw gear alone.

The Road to the 6-Slot Seal (High-Tier Progression)

The Seal system is now the core foundation of character progression in Season 13. While early progression allows only limited customization, unlocking all 6 slots is essential for enabling full synergy between Charms, set bonuses, and legendary modifiers.

The final two slots are tightly tied to regional progression systems in Skovos. Players must complete the “Echoes of the Ancients” questline to unlock access to the Master’s Seal Fragment, which is required for advanced upgrades. At this stage, pushing into higher World Tiers becomes significantly more efficient than staying in early difficulty zones.

Efficient Farming Targets for Seal Progression

One of the most consistent ways to progress Seal upgrades is through Cursed Reliquaries found in Helltides. These special chests have a noticeably higher chance of dropping Seal-compatible base items compared to standard loot sources.

In practice, efficiency comes down to resource prioritization. Players who save Cinders specifically for Reliquary of the Lost chests tend to progress faster due to their higher weighting toward Seal-related drops.

I found myself ignoring most standard chests entirely after a few runs, as the difference in upgrade potential becomes very noticeable over time.

High-end optimization in Season 13 also introduces a crafting-based shortcut for Seal progression.

A 4-slot Seal with strong affixes should never be discarded. Instead, it can be used in a Horadric Cube upgrade process:

The core gameplay loop is straightforward: maintain high block uptime while allowing reflected Thorns damage to scale through defensive stats.

Key skill setup focuses on Shield Throw as the primary damage trigger, supported by Iron Skin for survivability spikes and Shield Charge for mobility. Consecration provides sustained area control and passive healing, making the build highly stable even in prolonged fights.

Core Passive Synergy

The build’s effectiveness relies heavily on two passive mechanics:

Stand Firm increases armor and Thorns scaling the longer you remain stationary, rewarding controlled positioning.

Divine Fortress converts block chance into direct damage scaling, effectively turning defensive investment into offensive output.

From my experience, this creates a playstyle where surviving longer directly translates into higher DPS output, which feels very different from traditional burst builds.

Talisman Strategy for Endgame Scaling

To fully enable this build at endgame levels, the 6-slot Seal configuration becomes critical. The strongest synergies currently revolve around:

Charm of the Stalwart set bonuses, which significantly enhance block chance and amplify reflected damage

These combinations allow the Paladin to scale defensively while maintaining consistent offensive pressure without active damage rotation reliance.

Unlocking the 6-slot Seal is a long-term progression path that rewards focused farming and efficient resource allocation rather than random grinding. Prioritizing Skovos progression and targeted Helltide farming will significantly accelerate advancement.

When combined with the Thorns Shield Burst Paladin build, Season 13 becomes a structured climb rather than a chaotic grind.

From what I’ve seen so far, the strongest players aren’t necessarily the ones with the best gear—but the ones who understand how Seal progression and build synergy intersect at every stage of the endgame loop.
