The atmosphere in Sanctuary is heavy—not just with the encroaching demons, but with pure anticipation. As we sit just two weeks away from the launch of the Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, 2026, the current Season of Slaughter is drawing to a close. For many, this feels like the end of an era. However, for the veteran player, these final days are the most critical.
Here is my essential checklist to ensure I'm fully prepared for the next evolution of Diablo 4.
Audit Your Mythic Gear and Stash
I know the drill: when a new expansion launches, the power curve shifts dramatically. Before Lord of Hatred changes the endgame landscape, I’ll take an hour to audit my stash. I'll identify my current "Best-in-Slot" gear and Mythic items. While these may eventually be replaced, having a high-power foundation will make my initial exploration of new zones significantly smoother. If I have "junk" Mythics gathering dust, I won’t hesitate to salvage them for the Resplendent Sparks I’ll need to craft the new meta-defining gear.

I'll check my journey progress—if I’m only a few milestones away from that final completionist reward, I’ll make the push now.

The hype surrounding the new Warlock class is reaching a fever pitch. While I’m still waiting for the full deep dive into its synergy with existing mechanics, I know it relies heavily on unique stat distributions. I’ll take this time to understand the shifting importance of Willpower and resource management, as these mechanics are expected to be pivotal for the Warlock’s dark arts.
Cleanse Your Quest Log
Nothing is worse than starting a massive new expansion with a cluttered quest log full of abandoned errands. I’ll use these next few days to clear my backlog. I want my map and journal to be pristine when the new content hits, ensuring I can focus entirely on the new story beats, the Isles of Skovos, and the battle against Mephisto’s zealots.
