Diablo 4 Season 13, the Season of Reckoning, has completely reshaped the endgame grind. Between the Lord of Hatred expansion, the level cap increase to 70, and the brutal Torment XII difficulty, old farming strategies no longer deliver consistent results.
The days of endless “legendary rain” are over.
Instead, Blizzard has shifted the game toward a tighter, material-focused economy where efficiency matters far more than raw grinding hours. For most players entering the late endgame, the ultimate goal remains unchanged: securing Mythic Uniques like Harlequin Crest, The Grandfather, and other build-defining gear.
But with the introduction of Greater Lair Keys and the new Horadric Cube system, farming efficiently now requires a completely different approach.
If your current runs feel unrewarding, this optimized loop can dramatically improve your chances of securing top-tier loot.
The Core Meta: Greater Lair Keys
Season 13’s endgame revolves around targeted boss farming, specifically the new Uber encounters featuring Astaroth and Bartuc.
These encounters are not freely accessible. Players must collect Greater Lair Keys, which now function as the central currency of high-end progression.
Because of this, random dungeon farming is no longer efficient. Instead, successful players follow a structured three-part loop:
Farm keys efficiently
Upgrade keys through transmutation
Run organized boss rotations
That cycle currently defines the fastest path toward Mythic gear.
Step 1: Farm Greater Lair Keys Efficiently
The best source of Greater Lair Keys is the upgraded Nightmare Dungeon system.
The key is speed, not difficulty.
Many players make the mistake of pushing Torment levels too high and wasting time fighting elite packs with inflated health pools. If an elite encounter lasts longer than ten seconds, your efficiency drops significantly.
Instead, farm the highest tier you can clear quickly and consistently.
Season 13 completion chests now guarantee at least two Greater Lair Keys at higher difficulties, making fast clears extremely valuable over time.
Players should also pay attention to Murmuring Obols. The cap has increased to 2,500, and letting Obols sit unused is a major mistake.
Spend them regularly at the Purveyor of Curiosities, since gambling now has a chance to reward:

Step 2: Upgrade Keys with the Horadric Cube

This creates a Flawless Lair Key.
That upgrade matters because Flawless Keys force Uber-tier boss spawns with significantly improved loot weighting for Mythic Uniques.
In other words, fewer wasted runs and far better long-term drop efficiency.
Step 3: Run Full Boss Rotations
Once your squad has Flawless Keys ready, the most efficient strategy is joining a four-player rotation group.
Each player contributes one key, allowing the entire party to benefit from multiple boss attempts while spending fewer personal resources.
This dramatically improves overall farming value.
Current farming preferences are usually split between:
Astaroth for offensive Mythic gear
Bartuc for defensive and utility-focused items

Why Ancestral Gear Still Matters
Even if Mythic Uniques do not drop immediately, Uber boss runs still provide guaranteed Ancestral Gear with Greater Affixes.
In Season 13, those items are essential.
Legendary gear alone no longer scales effectively into Torment XII. Strong Ancestral bases are now required to fully benefit from the updated Tempering and Masterworking systems.
That means every efficient boss run still contributes meaningful progression.
Build Synergy Matters More Than Ever
Season 13 also introduced major balance changes to damage scaling, pushing the game toward stronger multiplicative synergy between party members.
For faster clears, squads should prioritize coordination over pure individual damage.
A Rogue running a strong Crowd Control setup can rapidly stagger bosses, while burst-heavy Necromancer builds excel at deleting health phases before environmental mechanics overwhelm the arena.
When combined with efficient key management and full-group rotations, this strategy creates the fastest route toward Mythic farming in Diablo 4 Season 13.
